Finsk
So most have noticed the abundance of awesome sky high abstract ankle wedges around the catwalks fashion weeks. Not the bland summer corky sandals that are predictably cracked out year after year, but those monstrous blocks attached to the limbs of the rich and richer. They remind me of something I would see in a Tim Burton film ala corpse bride etc.
I just love the way that paired with a dark denim or even hareem trouser they appear not to be boots or shoes (or even ’shoots’ if we’re heading there) but an extention of the leg – an abstract overthetop hoof which has a mechanical but also organic quality to it. For this reason I can see them working particularly well in horse hair or something similar. Obviously they look sublime on the gamine of thigh but nevertheless I don’t see why mere mortals like myself (who go to the gym then treat myself to a biscuit/glass of wine/bowl of cornflakes depending on the time of day) shouldn’t get some. And I wanna get me mine.
I think my preference so far has to be the Finsk because of the sheer awesomeness of that wooden wedge and the abstract way it juts out. But I also love the Josh Goot two tone especially those soft feminine neutrals shades that seem so delicate and luxurious. To be honest my love for this particular type of footwear has been rife since THE outstanding balenciaga monstrosities of 2006 (I even sat watching pair after pair of Sam Edelman rip offs go on ebay for extortionate amounts…I mean I’m not gonna pay over £300 for a fake version of the shoes!).
Whats really offending me (well my purse) right now is how slow the highstreet has been on the uptake. Maybe I am racing ahead somewhat as I should be buying cork sandals and st tropez but am dreaming about burtonesque hoofs and scutty jeans but I want some semi-affordable wedge ankle height boots and basically I want them now (birthday next week and all…)
